History
The Rolleston Music Circle had its beginnings with the Concert Outings which David Yates use to organise on a regular basis - starting in 1958. In 1962 he founded the Rolleston Music Circle as a gramophone society. Then in 1963 (at that time as a separate venture) the Rolleston & District Choral Society. By 1966 the two had been amalgamated into The Rolleston Music Circle & Choral Society of which he was Conductor until 1980. It is still officially registered as this, but with the demise of the gramophone side in 1980 only the Choral Section is ongoing at present. In 1966 he started and directed the first of the bi-annual Rolleston Music Festivals. The one advertised on the poster below - the 1968 Rolleston Festival - is the second. In the 60s and 70s David produced forty issues of 'CIRCLE NEWS' - during his current term in office as President he intends issuing several more copies. Issue No.41 of 'CIRCLE NEWS' is available for download here.

Singers who would like to join the choir should come to one of the weekly rehearsals held in the Methodist Schoolroom every Wednesday at 7.45 p.m. More details from Nick Willmot, on 565992 (home), 01782 208080 (work) .
