St Mary's Appeal

This is YOUR village church-will you keep it standing for future generations? The deterioration in the walls is so severe that it is now on the English Heritage ‘At Risk Register’. Following a year long preliminary investigation by our architect we now have a schedule of work to be carried out which includes:

• Tower repairs
• South Elevation masonry repairs
• Conservation/restoration South Porch door

In addition to a grant of £70,000 from English Heritage and some initial support we need another £100,000 to complete these works. Detailed drawings can be seen in the church.

Think back to weddings or baptisms enjoyed in the church and funerals attended -others deserve the opportunity to do so as well.

Coffee Mornings

Rolleston's regular Thursday coffee mornings are held in the sixteenth Century Old Grammar School in the churchyard each week from 10.00 to 11.30. If you are not already a regular visitor, do go along. There is often something interesting to buy, and it usually seems to be someone's birthday, so you may get a piece of cake thrown in (or more daintily served). In addition, the beautiful old Church is open for visitors, with willing volunteers.

St Mary's Church Floodlighting

Floodlighting of St Mary’s brightens the village centre and makes it much more attractive during the long winter evenings. The lights were installed and continue to be maintained by the Civic Trust but the electricity bill is met by the Church.

Sponsorship for the lights to mark a celebration, anniversary, in memory of someone, or just because you enjoy them, costs £5 for an evening or £25 for a week.

To sponsor lighting please contact Mr Tom Martin, 43 The Lawns, tel. 813 320.
